When a gate valve isn’t enough
Gate valves isolate; globe valves regulate. In a globe valve the disc moves perpendicular to the seat, so flow changes smoothly as the stem is turned and the valve can be left part-open without damage. That makes it the natural choice for bypass lines, control stations, steam services and anywhere flow has to be trimmed by hand.
Design features
- Outside screw, rising stem, bolted bonnet – threads stay away from the line fluid and are easy to lubricate.
- Plug type disc for leak-tight seating with long in-built wear life.
- Shoulder-type threaded seat ring with a large taper seating area and two slots for easy removal during site servicing.
- Curved internal flow passages to minimise turbulence and stress.
- Plug and seat ring precision machined and lapped for tight closure.
- One-piece stem and long thread engagement in the yoke bush for accurate alignment.

Angle type globe valve
An angle pattern globe valve turns the flow through 90°, replacing a globe valve plus an elbow. It reduces the number of joints, lowers overall pressure drop compared with a separate valve and bend, and is common on boiler drains, tank bottoms and pump discharge headers.
